UPSC Engineering Services Pre 2027 – Exam Pattern & Qualifying Marks

Exam Pattern	Stage I – Preliminary (Objective): Paper I – General Studies & Engineering Aptitude (200 Marks, 2 Hours), Paper II – Engineering Discipline (300 Marks, 3 Hours). Total 500 Marks. Stage II – Main (Conventional): Paper I & II in Engineering Discipline (300 Marks each, 3 Hours each). Total 600 Marks. Stage III – Personality Test/Interview: 200 Marks. Negative Marking: 1/3rd of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer in objective papers.
Qualifying Marks	Minimum qualifying marks are fixed by the Commission at its discretion for each stage. Final merit is based on marks obtained in Preliminary, Main, and Personality Test/Interview.

UPSC Engineering Services Pre 2027 – Important Instructions

Applications must be submitted online only through the official website. No other mode is allowed.
One-time edit facility is available for URN profile, but changes will not reflect in already submitted applications.
Live photo capture and uploading of photograph and signature are mandatory during the application process.
Candidates must sign three times on a plain white paper with black ink and upload the same.
Applications cannot be withdrawn after submission, and no corrections are allowed thereafter.
Candidates must carry a valid photo ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID/PAN/Passport/Driving License) to the exam centre.
Use only black ball point pen for marking answers on the OMR sheet. Pencil or ink pen is not permitted.
There is negative marking for wrong answers in objective type papers; 1/3rd marks will be deducted.
Mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, and any other electronic equipment are strictly banned inside the exam hall.
